2019 Certified WBE Awards

Only Certified WBEs in good standing with WBE Canada as of November 1, 2019 are eligible to receive these awards. All other submissions will be disqualified. Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including nominee herself.

2019 WBE of the Year

This category recognizes a certified women business who has demonstrated excellence in business, namely through growth, accomplishments, impact on the economy and dedication to community service. Winner of this category will also receive a prestigious Tuck Scholarship, compliments of GM.

Nominees are judged on the following criteria:

  • Business Growth: How much has the business expanded YOY?
  • Innovation: How has the Nominee demonstrated innovative thinking in her business?
  • Career Accomplishments: What has the Nominee accomplished in her career that sets her apart?
  • Impact on Canadian Economy: How has the Nominee had a measurable impact?
  • Community Service: How does the Nominee demonstrate her commitment to the community?

This nomination requires the following supporting documents:

  • Completed Online Nomination Form
  • Internal Letter of Reference (one page maximum, Word Document or PDF). May be provided by anyone from the Nominee’s organization, including a member of the board of directors.

2019 WBE Stars

This category recognizes certified WBEs across regions or industries who are significantly contributing to their industry or region’s economic development. Nominations can be submitted by businesses themselves, Corporate Members, Partner organizations, Industry Associations or Annual Conference Sponsors. WBEs will be recognized in a variety of regions or industries.

Nominees are judged on the following criteria:

  • Role Model: What mentoring or other involvement did the Nominee undertake to assist other women in her community as a role model?
  • Partnership: How does the Nominee demonstrate commitment to their community?
  • Impact: How has the Nominee had a measurable impact on women at the local/regional level or in her industry through either job creation, partnership with other WBEs or support for the organization(s) in the region?
  • What are examples of the Nominee’s accomplishments as an agent of change in making a distinct and describable difference to the advancement of Canadian women?

This nomination requires the following supporting documents:

  • Completed Online Nomination Form
  • External Letter of Reference (one page maximum, Word Document or PDF). May be provided by any Canadian organization positively impacted by the Nominee’s involvement.

2019 Rookie of the Year

This category recognizes a WBE certified between August 1, 2016 and July 31, 2019 who has made a distinct and describable improvement thanks to supplier diversity.

Nominees are judged on the following criteria:

  • Supplier Diversity: What achievements has the business experienced as a result of supplier diversity initiatives?
  • Business Growth: How much has the business expanded YOY?
  • Innovation: How has the Nominee demonstrated innovative thinking in her business?
  • Economic Impact: How has the Nominee impacted the Canadian economy through either job creation or partnership with other WBEs?

This nomination requires the following supporting documents:
